Mafeking £1 banknote. Lord Baden-Powell who commanded the forces at the siege of Mafeking, took a personal interest in the issue of these notes and actually designed some of the notes himself. The £1 shows the homemade gun “Wolf ” named after Baden-Powell who was known to the natives as “The Wolf that never sleeps’
