After having left the Chapel, continue on in the same path asbefore, and turn to the right into Pine Avenue. On the left is the Shaw lot, containing a very appropriatefreestone temple, on which is inscribed, —Robert Gould Shaw. 1843. There is a white marble slab in front of the temple,beautifully sculptured m relief. Next to the Shaw lot isthe Trull lot, with an appropriate marble monument tothe memory of Marj Trull, died June 10, 1856, aged 70 j£^i:>t^jf:^fuirx£^ THE CHAPEL. 42 HANDBOOK. On the right are three very tall columns — W. H. Delanoand W. F. Whitney, both of granite, and H. T. Rice, ofmarble. These are inclosed in a triple lot, and are exceed-ingly appropriate, but plain, and attract considerable atten-tion. On the left are monuments on the Thayer, Yiles,and Dodd lots, and on the right a monument ,with a female figure resting on an urn, inscribed, — My Husband ;erected to the memory of Charles Valentine. Died Jan. 10, 1850, aged 52 years, 10 lifes a dream ; an empty show ;But the bright world to which I goHath joys substantial and sincere ;When shall I wake and find me there ? On the left is the Wetherell lot, and behind it a mostbeautiful granite obelisk, erected by Thomas Dowse to thememory of Franklin, and bearmg the following upon itsfro
