A German fireproof iron trunk, circa 1820. Riveted iron body with two side-mounted handles and decorative fields in relief (later painted in colour). The lid is surrounded with 18 latches and has a hidden mechanism for the keyhole. Interior double walls. Red lead painted insert with a second lockable lid. There are two staples on the front with hasps for padlocks and a simulated keyhole.
