Piazza Nuova, Bergamo, Italy. Palazzo Roncalli dating from 1700s. By Andrea Ziliolo
Piazza Nuova, Bergamo, Italy. Palazzo Roncalli dating from 1700s. During its restoration in 1983, the Loggia dei Mercanti, (built to a plan by Andrea Ziliolo in 1520) was discovered hidden under the facade. Illusionsist treatment of arcade to make it seem three dimensional. Lions' heads, and human heads, in the spandrels.
