From the coronation book of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth published in 1937 photo taken in 1895 by Will E Taylor. The future King George VI was born here on 14 December 1895 which was the anniversary of the death of his great-grandfather, Prince Albert, the Prince Consort. He was named Albert in an attempt to Mollify the still grieving Queen Victoria, but took the name of Georg VI on his assumption of the throne to emphasise the continuity with his Father after the abdication of his Brother Edward.
