Uranographia constellations. This page of this star atlas shows the constellations near the North Celestial Pole (lower centre). The constellations are groupings of stars in the night sky, here represented by a mixture of contemporary and mythological figures. At upper right is Cepheus, named after the King of Ethiopia in Greek mythology. At upper right is Draco (The Dragon). At centre left is Ursa Minor (The Little Bear). At lower centre is Camelopardalis (The Giraffe). At top right is a key giving an 8-fold scale for the magnitude of the stars shown here. Uranographia was published in 1801 by the German astronomer Johann Elert Bode (1747-1826).
