The Opern- und Schauspielhaus is home to Städtischen Bühnen Frankfurt (Municipal stages of Frankfurt), the municipal theatre company of Frankfurt. The company is structured in two organisations, Oper Frankfurt for opera, and Schauspiel Frankfurt for drama. Frankfurt am Main is a metropolis and the largest city of the German federal state of Hesse, and its 746,878 (2017) inhabitants make it the fifth-largest city in Germany.
