In compliance with the instructions received at Maree on theIndus, on the 14th February 1851, from the Most Noble the Go-vernor General, I have endeavoured to make such an examination ofthe Salt Eange as will enable His Lord%Uip in Council to judge asto the exact character of its mineral wealth. The results of this examination have been embodied in the accom-panying Eeport. Prom unavoidable circumstances I was unable to commence theregular survey of the Eange, until the end of February 1851, andowing to the heat was obliged to cease work in the middle of April.
