Hammer coral. Hammer coral (Euphyllia ancora) is a species of hard coral in the family Euphylliidae. This species is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific area. However it is overharvested for the aquarium trade, and its reef habitat is being destroyed in many areas. It is therefore considered a vulnerable species.
