Harness Pendant, 1200s. France, Gothic period, 13th century. Gilded copper, champlevé enamel; overall: x 9 cm (4 x 3 9/16 in.). Probably a pendant (hanging ornament) because of the loop at the top, this plaque may have been hung from a horse's breast plate. It also could be a crusader's badge.
