Several specimens of Neotoma in the Museum collection present eccentricities that seem worthv of note. Neotoma californica Price.—One of two topotypes ol this species presents the following extraordinary deviations in ;. It is an adult male (No. f-§4f) from Bear Valley, Cal. The last lower molar on each side has an extra enamel loop on the inner side, as though an attempt were made to reproduce the middle loop, normally developed in M1 and M^. A slight supernumerary cusp is also seen on the outer side of MT and .\L5 of both rami, and two on the outer side of M^. They are all merely incipient points arising from the cingulum, but are not without morphologic interest. (See Fig. 12.) Neotoma floridana (Ord). — A male from Enterprise, Florida, (No. slff) has normal dentition, except with respect to Mj of the right side, which has an extra circular loop of enamel on the outer side opposite the middle of the tooth.
