The car as it stands can be used forf I eight in the usual way, but when itccmes to automobiles the Pennsylvaniabox car opens a second door in eitherside and thus gives a total door openingper side of 12 ft. 2 ins. wide by 8 ^2 ins. high. The large opening is gotby removing a temporary center post edge. The ends are 10 ins. deep, andthe lower flange is sloped down to adepth of 17 ins. for a distance of about12 ft. in the center of the car. Thebody bolsters are also made of pressedsteel shapes placed with backs 11^2 , and the side and center sills areheld rigidly together by a series of
