Though bred primarily for home and com- mercial canning, this excellent variety is now also widely used as a table beet because of its very deep, attractive color and superior quality. Tops strong and erect, medium tall, about 14', green with red ribs. Roots smooth, globe-shaped, with small neck; dark maroon-red. Flesh lively deep ox-blood red; exceptionally vivid and attractive when cut; richly colored juice. Holds quality well until roots are full-grown. A pedigreed stock, the result of many years of breeding; unsurpassed in earliness, uniformity, and in depth of interior color.
