Fine Pair of Antique Japanese Bronze Vases by Takeuchi Chubei. Meiji Period


Fantastic pair of rare bronze vases by Meiji artist Takeuchi Chubei. Each of a compressed globular form with a long neck and flared rim. Vases are decorated in very fine complementary patterns featuring six foo lions playing among the scrolling chrysanthemums, dragons in the clouds coiling around the long necks and with additional foliate motifs and a greek key embellishing their flared rims. Each with a characteristic Takeuchi Sei mark and patent number to the base. Height: 19 cm Origin: Japan Date of production: late 19th century, Meiji period (1868 – 1912) Material: bronze
