A fine Italian etched glaive, circa 1480/90 Heavy single-edged blade, double-edged towards the reinforced point of diamond section. At the back an angled grappling hook. Rectangular socket retaining one intact languet. The socket and blade base bear finely etched and gilt ornamentation, at the socket a depiction of Jesus with St. George while the blade shows depictions of various prophets beneath St. Sebastian and David(?). At the base of the grappling hook, on each side cartouches with embattled putti, the hook itself with a décor of tendrils. Length cm. ,
