It is doubtful whether any association in the countryhas conducted a basket ball league that has been more suc-cessful and fulfilled its purpose better than the one maintainedyear after year by the Detroit Association. In the fall of 1905 the Associated Basket Ball League wasformed by a number of the most active men connected withthe sport in this city. This league is composed of six of thebest teams in Detroit and has successfully completed its secondseason. The players were registered with the and all. The Team won the championship the first year, and theChicago Pneumatic Company won the honors the second season. The Interscholastic League is composed of the four local highschool teams. Their schedule lasts for twelve weeks, two gamesbeing played every Saturday afternoon in the gym-nasium before enthusiastic crowds composed of the many loyalsupporters of the schools. Central High School has won thecup for the past two seasons. The games of the Commercial, Associated and InterscholasticLeagues have attracted large crowds throughout the winter. Anadmission of ten cents is charged to these games. There werea number of other leagues organized last winter and they werethe means of affording healthful recreation for many youngmen. There is scarcely an organization in our city supportingathletic work that has not taken up basket ball. The two
