North Street, Bedminster, Bristol, UK. 24th May 2021. A row of shops in Bristol has been transformed into a multi-coloured showcase by a group of female street artists. The Six Sisters project, which has been 5 years in the making, is inspired by San Francisco's world renowned Painted Ladies - a terrace of colourful Victorian and Edwardian houses which have been drawing attention to the city's Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood since the '60s. Six local street artists were each offered space above a storefront in the Bedminster area of the south west city to design detailed murals in their personal style. The final pieces, by Lucas Antics and Ejits, were unveiled last week. The project began at Upfest 2016 when the initial mural was created by Bristol-based artist Gemma Compton. Festival founder Stephen Hayles decided to continue the series with works by Zoe Power, Bex Glover and Sophie Long.
