Australian aborigine. 18th-century artwork of a male Australian aborigine wielding a weapon. This portrait was drawn by artist Thomas Watling (1762-1814) in the period 1792 to 1797. Watling lived in the British colony of Sydney, New South Wales, founded in 1788 in Port Jackson, a harbour in south-eastern Australia. The portrait is drawing 33 from the Natural History Museum's Watling Collection.
