Around the 5th to 9th Century AD, various ruling dynasties, from the Chalukyas to the Yadavas, constructed a total of 10 beautiful rock cut temples around the lake. These temples are a prime example of the hemadpanthi Style of Architecture. In tyhis photo water beatles thrive in the small fresh water puddle created for wild animals by the forest department, while green algae flourishes in the alkaline waters of the lake.
