William Sim was appointed a commit- tee of one to interview the trustees of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society with a view to obtaining a guarantee from that society of assistance toward the prize fund for the show. An invitation to meet with them had been received from the officers who are arranging for the National Flower Show at St. Louis in 1918, and who are offering $250 as prizes for sweet peas. It was resolved to suggest that this sum be at least doubled, since few growers, it "as thought, would be in- duced to send displays unless liberal prizes were offered. General satisfaction was expressed at the prospects before the society, and it is hoped that a successful year lies ahead. Harry A. Bunyard, Sec'y. EVERGREEN COVER FOR LAWN. I am in need of an evergreen ground cover for a much shaded lawn and ?^'ould like to use Vinca major for this purpose, unless you can suggest some- thing better. Can you inform me where T can buy Vinca major in quantity, as I have not seen it advertised in The Beview recently? A. G. H.—W. Va. more tender than V. minor, the common periwinkle or creeping myrtle, and would, therefore, be less likely to prove satisfactory in your state. Vinca vari- egata, which you will find advertised largely, is a variegated form of V. major.
