The ear, organ of audition and balance. The ear is a complex organ. Vibrations touching the tympanic membrane are transmitted to the inner ear by the three auditory bones. In the inner ear, a series of cavities including the vestibule, the semicircular canals and the cochlea then transmit the information to the brain for processing.
