The blood glucose test uses a small machine that provides a digital readout of the patients blood glucose level. It measures the amount of glucose in the blood. The test is used to detect both hyperglycemia and hypogly cemia and to help diagnose diabetes. Diabetics must monitor their own blood glucose levels to determine how fa r above or below normal their glucose level is. Knowing the level helps determine what oral medications or ins ulin(s) needed.
