Merchant Marine Inspection. Boiler Inspection - A Coast Guard marine inspector places a seal on the safety valve of a boiler aboard a new merchant tanker after testing and setting it as determined by the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard prescribed the pressure required for safe operation of a vessel. Subsequent periodic inspections of this vessel for seaworthiness will include a close check up on the boiler and pressure to insure non-violation of the law.
