Flight Precision Ltd Beech Super King Air B200 G-FPLB Working on airfield runway calibration
Airports rely on their ground based Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) to guide aircraft to the runway accurately in all weather conditions. FPL's aircraft are equipped with highly accurate measuring systems that allow the aircraft to compute its position continuously in 3 dimensions, to an accuracy of about 6 ins/15 cm. This level of accuracy enables FPL to confirm that MAG's ILS installations, some of which allow 'Autoland' capability in thick fog or very poor visibility, are providing the extreme precision required of this type of equipment. In addition to the periodic 'routine' checks, FPL will also attend MAG's occasional request to conduct 'one-off' checks to commission new or replacement ground based navigational equipments, as these are introduced into service. Between them, FPL's expertise and MAG's engineers ensure millions of passengers arrive at their destination safely and more reliably.
