Mannequin on a wheelchair in front of an antique store on Butte Avenue, Randsburg, California, USA (Apr 2007)

Randsburg is a small mining town near US Highway 395 between Ridgecrest and Boron, California. In the early 1890s gold was discovered in the area and the town boomed. Later silver and tungsten were mined in the nearby hills. These days a few hundred hardy souls survive on tourism and work for The Rand Mining Company that still mines gold around the town. Randsburg is often described as a living ghost town. The heart of the town along Butte Avenue hasn't changed much since the times of the gold boom. Many movies and commercials were filmed in and around the town.
