A silver-mounted Caucasian shashqa,end of the 19th century. Curved single-edged blade with a broad fuller on both sides and a double-edged point. Remnants of trophy etching at the base of the blade. Silver grip with engraved,niello,and bead-and-reel decoration. Leather-covered,wooden scabbard with four silver mountings worked en suite. The Arabic inscription "Mohammed Rashid Ben Belal" on the back of the locket(restored,soft-soldered).
