Jean-Nicolas Corvisart (1755-1821), French physician. Corvisart was an expert in cardiology, and from 1804 to 1815 was physician to the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. This portrait, by French painter Francois Gerard (1770-1837), dates from 1806. The original is held at the Museum of Versailles, Paris, France.
