Ladder leaning against the wall near the door to the entrance of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Muslim man named Nusseibeh climb it to unlock gate


The ladder which is used by a member of the Nusseibeh family to climb on to unlock and lock the lock the door of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher or Church of Resurrection, the ladder is kept inside the church behind the door seen on the right. The key was taken away from the Christians by the Muslims after they defeated the Crusaders in 1187. It's held by the Muslim Judah family. Every morning and every night Mr. Judah comes with the key gives it to Mr. Nusseibeh who climbs the ladder to lock and unlock the door. Old Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Israel. October 27, 2020
