At an early age, John became a pupil in the Rochelle HighSchool, from which he was gi-aduated in 1898,and inunediately afterward secured a position inthe local post-office, commencing work at theiHginning of the term of G. W. Dicus as Post-master, and continuing up to the present 1894 he has officiated as Assistant Post-master. In politics, Mr. Kahler is a Republican andtakes an active interest in the public affairs ofthe city, township and county. Fraternally, heis affiliated with the Knights of Columbus. Uni-formed Rank, being a Deputy Grand , he was reared in the Catholic faith,and is a devout member of St. Patricks Church. KANEY, Lewis.—In Maryland Township, OgleCounty, four and a half miles from where henow lives, Lewis Kanev was born April 17. ,a son of Henry and Elizabeth (Posha) Kaney,the latter being an aunt of Lewis Fosha, nowdeceased. Both Henry and Elizabeth Kaneywere born in Prussia, and came to America onthe same vessel, their marriage occurring inShenherdstown. in 1848. at the home of thebrides brother.
