ANTIQUE Livery Buttons. COCK AND BULL

Livery buttons may have been worn by the gamekeeper, the huntsman, the carriage driver etc. The lower button (cockerel and bull) has something to do with a fracas we once had with France I understand. Is this where a "Cock and Bull Story" came from ??
