Gordon Cameron, basing his conclusions on the structure of the antlers, has, however, revived the view of Dr. Gray, and there is little doubt that he is correct in so doing. If antlers count for anything in classification—and it is almost impossible to denv that they do so—the genus has nothing to do with any of the living Old World deer with the exception of the roes, while its alliance with the American deer seems close. Probably it is still more closely connected with the under-mentioned extinct types. That it differs from the American deer.
