boats & a cactus washed up on Playa Arenal after storm, Oct 2007, Javea, Alicante Province, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain


On 12th October 2007 the Rio Gorgos burst its banks after days of exceptionally heavy rain. This scene is on the Playa Arenal the day after the floods, and it shows the length of the beach with wrecked boats and rubbish, washed out to sea in the river floodwater, blown back onto the beach. The water's edge is black with debris and seaweed. The Parador is in the background.
