A woman with a red patch, that symbolised a protest, during the the Executive Board of Leiden University attended the opening of the academic year 2019-2020, hundreds of students gathered to protest against the cutbacks in university education in The Netherlands suggested by the Van Rijn committee’s advice report on the funding of higher education. The protest took place close to the official ceremony at the Pieterskerk church and speakers from all over the scientific field were involved.
