The Central District, or business quarter, lies east and south ofBoylston Street, the Public Garden, the Common, Tremont, Court, and State streets. This region is frequently referred to nowadaysas the congested district, and into it are crowded banks, publicbuildings, warehouses, shops, offices, hotels, theaters, newspaperoffices, and the railway stations.
