Der Bergfried "Dicker Wilhelm" ist der letzte und einzig erhaltene von drei Rundtuermen, die einst auf der Neuenburg standen. Wahrscheinlich entstand er ab der Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts. Schloss Neuenburg ist eine Hoehenburg in Freyburg (Unstrut). Die Burg wurde um 1090 vom Thueringer Grafen Ludwig dem Springer errichtet.
