A rock-cut stairway leads up the sandstone cliff of North Mesa to the canyon rim and connects with prepared roadways on the mesa top. Hungo Pavi was a multi-storey Anasazi town or great house dating to the C11th AD. Situated at the mouth of Mockingbird Canyon on the north side of Chaco Wash.
