London, UK. 27th November 2017. A councillor speaks to activists and supporters from the Revolutionary Communist Group who are protesting on the streets of North Kensington. They marhced to the addresses of several local councillors to ask why the Grenfell residents have not been rehoused over five and a half months after the fire, why no criminal charges have been brought against the councillors responsible for the inadequate fire safety and dangerous materials and modifications which made Grenfell a disaster waiting to happen, and what the council's plans for residential development are. They found Councillor Rock Feilding-Mellen had moved out from the area and his former house now occupied by a tenant but at the second councillor's house they visited he came out to talk, telling them he had no connection with housing before the fire, but he had been working with people on the scene at Grenfell by 4am on the morning of the fire. He defended the council's response now, telling the protesters large amounts were now being spent in the attempt to rehouse survivors, but the protesters were not at satisfied with his answers. I left after their visit to a third councillor, who was either not at home or not willing to engage with the protesters, who were noisy but otherwise peaceful and well-ordered.
