A general view from the south/west of the Falkirk Wheel visitor attraction on a still and sunny autumn day with wheel turning

Editorial use only. No commercial use. The Falkirk Wheel is beginning to turn with both canal boats in the two boat carriers beginning to rotate 180 degrees to lift/lower the vessels 25 metres. The semi circular visitor centre is behind and some of the boat piers for mooring are to the left. The lock exit to the Forth and Clyde Canal can just be seen to the far left. The main purpose of the Falkirk Wheel is to connect up the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal avoiding the building of a series of individual locks
