For succession plant every two weeks up to July 15th. To protect from birds, Sweet Corn may be given a coating of Pine Tree Tar in the following manner: Place seed in vessel and add enough water to cover it; then stir in a teaspoonful of tar for each peck of seed. Drain on a sieve and add some land plaster. One pound will plant about 100 hills, or 150 to 200 feet of row. (See cut.) An extra early va- riety, ripening with the Cory. Stalks grow 4 to 6 feet high and ears are of large size, measuring 8 to 10 inches in length. The grains are extremely sweet, and, being decidedly broad, allow of easy scoring with a knife preparatory to buttering when eating from the cob.
