A kingfisher catching a silver fish. AMAZING SHOTS have been captured of a kingfisher fishing and catching a tadpole before throwing it in the air image shows the small six-inch bird flying down to the water?s edge to grab a small fish for its next meal. Another image shows the less-than-one-pound kingfisher throwing a tadpole in the air before catching it with its beak again. Industrial Engineer Wouter Cardoen (49) from Vilvoorde, Belgium captured close-up images of colourful kingfishers catching fish and tadpoles for their next meal. Wouter captured these stunning images in Anderlecht, Belgium using a Nikon Z9 camera. Capturing images of kingfishers isn?t an easy task, so Wouter sat for four hours waiting for only a few seconds of capturing the kingfishers in action. ?Kingfishers are exceptional birds in many aspects, especially in Belgium , we don?t have many birds that are as colourful as kingfishers,? he said. ?The ease and speed with which they are able to catch fish or other water creatures like tadpoles or insects is simply mind-blowing . ?Most people don?t get to see a kingfisher closely as they are usually very shy and the only thing they see is a flash of blue and orange when it is flying by. ?Having a close look usually requires a lot of patience, something which most people don?t have. ?Photographing kingfishers requires quite some patience, so I was sitting there for at least four hours for only a handful of seconds while the bird was sitting close enough on the right place to take the perfect ENDS mediadrumworld/Wouter Cardoen
