A small, polychrome German war chest, circa 1700, Rectangular body of sheet iron with wide bands. The obverse with false keyhole with chased escutcheon, beside two hasps for padlocks. Movable handle at either side. Hinged lid, the key hole with spring-loaded cover. Lock mechanism with four bolts, added hollow shank key. Cover openwork plate of tinned sheet iron decorated with acanthus leaves and bands. The obverse and both lateral fields with unusually well preserved polychrome decoration of scrolling leaves, blossoms and pomegranates. The fields, Additional-Rights-Clearance-Info-Not-Available
