Faces at Bayon temple, Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Image of faces of Jayavarman VII carved into the rocks at Bayon Temple, one of the Angkor temples, Siem Reap, Cambodia. The exact function of Bayon is unknown, but one theory is that it could have been simply as a monument to Jayavarman VII, who built many temples at Angkor, or alternatively that the faces are keeping watch over the kingdom's domain as it was then. Image taken in March 2006.
