A carbine - "Saustutzen", Southern German, circa 1650. Octagonal barrel with smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Dovetailed brass sights. Lock with exterior wheel. The cock has remnants of engraved decoration. Lockplate interior has barely legible marks. Set trigger. Iron trigger guard with finger rests. Walnut full stock with bone inlays engraved with hunting themes. The buttstock has a patch box with an engraved bone lid, and a horn butt plate. Replacement butt cap and ramrod.
