Navlet Co., re- ports a fine beginning on domestic bulb sales. This firm had on display last week a large stock of freesia, tulip, daffodil and narcissus bulbs. Mr. Pi- cetti says that the buying is brisk by out-of-town growers who anticipate a scarcity of bulbs later in the season. H. E. Hallawell has not returned from his vacation trip. He expects to be back soon, however, and Mrs. Hallawell, who takes charge of affairs in her hus- band's absence, states that they are preparing for an unusually large bulb season and are getting the domestic stock in readiness. She expects the first shipment of Holland bulbs soon after October 1. Quantities of peren- nial seeds are being sold now, as the season is well started. Henry Avansino, manager of the E. W. McLellan Co., states that the firm is shipping quantities of asters and some chrysanthemums, although the last men- tioned are not in good crop yet. This company is getting $3 per bunch for good asters, each bunch containing ten dozen. Mr. Avansino says that there are about 25,000 freesia bulbs left and he expects to clean up on these in a short tim'\ White, pink and yellow chrysanthe- mums are received daily by the United Flower & Supply Co. and are sold at $ per dozen. The growers are send- ing in plenty of asters now, which sell at from 25 to 35 cents per dozen. Ship- ping business, the
