Hinojuku Honjin Garden - Hinojuku Honjin was established in the early Edo period. When the Koshu Kaido road was constructed, it was established as a post town between Hachioji and Fuchu. The main inn was run by the Sato family, who served as headmen of Hino, originally a farming village. In the late Edo period, the head of the family at the time, Sato Hikogoro, renovated the gate of this inn and opened a dojo for the Tennen Rishin-ryu school of swordsmanship. This is an impressive honjin building with its irimoya-style entrance in the back there is a dry landscape garden. The garden itself is a bit of a mystery - although the garden can be seen in aerial photographs from the late Showa period, the white sand does not appear, so perhaps the garden was added when the museum opened in 2004.
