Each rainy season floodwater brings debris down from the hills through Kroo Bay shanty town, the worst slum in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The rainwater demolishes makeshift banks, houses and sweeps children out to sea. Typhoid, cholera and malaria are rife. December 2008
