An atlas of clinical microscopy . Mezger Utk. Neutral calcium phosphate Peyers microscopy. PLATE 16. Mezger Utk. Neutral calcium phosphate. Peyers microscopy. PLATES 17, 18, PHOSPHATES WITH TRIPLE PHOSPHATE. 40 CLINICAL MICROSCOPY. THE EAETHY PHOSPHATES Consist of calcium phosphate and magnesium phosphate. Beingsoluble in acid urine only, they are always precipitated in alkalineurine, and form a whitish sediment, which frequently is very con-siderable. They can be distinguished from the urates at once bythe fact that the latter occur only in acid, the foi-mer only in alka-line urine.

They can be distinguished from the urates at once bythe fact that the latter occur only in acid, the foi-mer only in alka-line urine. The urates are also always colored by absorbed color-ing-matter. The urates disappear on heating; the earthy phosphates in-crease, because the carbonic acid which mainly is necessary to theirsolution is driven out. Microscopically, they can easily be distin-guished, the earthy phosphates not forming such beautiful moss-likestructures, but being finer, more dust-like. As in a sediment of urates a few uric acid crystals rapidly areforming, so we find likewise a few triple phosphates in a sediment
