This face centred cubic (fcc) structure is also called cubic close packed (ccp). Thorium is an actinide, a soft, heavy, and radioactive metal. Thorium-232, used as a nuclear fuel, contributes a large part of the Earth's internal heat. It has a half-life of 14 billion years.
