Banknote security. Image 2 of 2. Civil servant using a standard reference grid as he telephones a RAPACE operator to check a suspect Euro banknote. RAPACE (Repertoire Automatise Pour l'Analyse des Contrefacons de l'Euro) is a system that has been developed by the French police. The operator will guide the enquirer through a checklist using the grid reference numbers, checking for errors in the serial number, printing and the other security features such as the holograms and watermarks.
