Philips Graveyard, Manchester #05

Headstones in Phillips Park Municipal Cemetery in Manchester. Opened in 1866, this was Manchester's first municipal public cemetery and was divided into separate areas for different denominations - Church of England, Dissenters, or non-conformists, Roman Catholics and Jews. These images were shot in the small Jewish area. Many of the headstones in the cemetery have been laid flat for safety reasons - most regrettably, many of the headstones in this area have also been vandalised before or after the headstones were laid flat. Shot on a modified Nikon D50 using a custom white balance
